Title: | Head of Sales – No Starch Press (SF or Remote) |
Description: | About the Role:
=============== No Starch Press, a leading independent publisher of books for programmers, hackers, and technical professionals, is seeking a senior Head of Sales to lead and scale our global sales operations. This is a high-impact, strategic role reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for overseeing our domestic and international sales strategy, managing key partnerships (including Penguin Random House), and identifying new growth opportunities in retail, institutional, academic, and licensing channels. Key Responsibilities: ====================== * Design and implement a comprehensive sales strategy across multiple channels (trade, academic, international, direct) * Manage relationships with our distributor (Penguin Random House) and key accounts * Identify and pursue new sales and licensing opportunities, including course adoption, B2B, and educational markets * Forecast revenue, track performance metrics, and build scalable sales systems * Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to align launches, campaigns, and promotional efforts About No Starch Press: ======================= Founded in 1994, No Starch Press is a San Francisco–based independent publisher known for producing the finest in technical books for programmers, hackers, and professionals. Requirements: | * 8–15+ years of experience in book publishing, educational content, or technical/academic sales
* Proven track record of revenue growth and successful sales execution * Experience managing distributor and channel relationships * Strong analytical and forecasting skills; CRM fluency a plus * Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities * Passion for high-quality books, technology, and reader engagement Preferred: ============= * Existing relationships in the publishing, education, or technology sectors * Experience selling to academic institutions, tech companies, or course adoption markets * Background in technical publishing or developer-focused content |
