Title: Senior Acquisitions Editor - Guilford Press
Description: Guilford Press, an independent academic/scholarly publisher of evidence-based works in Psychology, Education, Research Methods, and related fields for professionals and students, has an immediate opening for a Senior Editor in its Acquisitions Department.

The Senior Acquisitions Editor acquires, develops, and oversees the publication of titles and resources of high quality for assigned lists, delivering established revenue annually. The Senior Acquisitions Editor is expected to develop and execute strategic plans to drive program growth, achieving revenue and profitability targets established by the Editor-in-Chief. This position will be devoted to academic works and advanced texts in the discipline of psychology, focused initially on the areas of social psychology and personality.

The Senior Acquisitions Editor must be an outstanding communicator who can collaborate with colleagues throughout Guilford and build relationships with external partners while maintaining the high editorial and scholarship standards that are the foundation of Guilford’s mission and legacy.

Responsibilities
• Acquire, develop, and publish superior projects and deliver on the established annual goals for revenue.
• Build and execute strategic plan, assess trends and competitive landscape, and identify and pursue opportunities for growth.
• Evaluate submitted materials, work with authors, as well as development, editorial, and production teams, to develop and produce high quality works.
• Negotiate agreements and oversee the work of internal and external development editors and editorial professionals with an emphasis on quality and timely delivery of materials toward publication deadlines.
• Attend professional conferences and build and maintain active networks of prospective authors, advisors, and reviewers.
• Work with marketing department on successful promotion of titles and program.
• Work with production department to ensure timely production of titles.

Guilford Press is a New York City-based company that has embraced hybrid and remote work arrangements.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 annually, with a hiring salary dependent on skills and experience. Requirements: Requirements
• A minimum of 5 years of acquisitions, editorial, or development experience, with experience in list management.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating editorial submissions, working with authors, and acquiring or developing superior projects.
• Ability to build and execute strategic plans, assess trends and competitive landscape, and identify and pursue opportunities for growth.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external partners, including editorial, production, and marketing, to successfully guide work toward publication goals.
• Experience attending professional conferences in disciplines, and building and maintaining active networks of prospective authors, advisors, and reviewers.
• Knowledge and experience in the subject area of psychology preferred. BA in psychology or related field, scholarly knowledge of psychology.
• Expertise in advanced text publishing in behavioral sciences preferred.
