Title: Operations Assistant
Description: W. W. Norton seeks a proactive, detail-oriented Operations Assistant with a passion for the publishing industry and a knack for systems thinking. This role supports a wide range of operational, analytical, and administrative functions, with a focus on managing documentation workflows, streamlining internal processes, and supporting cross-departmental coordination. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and communicative—comfortable navigating information systems and thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

Manage business agreement submission workflows across multiple stakeholders, ensuring completeness and timely routing
Track documentation timelines and milestones to support timely review, approval, and execution
Support metadata cleanup projects in internal systems and proactively communicate updates across editorial, finance, and operations teams
Extract and analyze data from internal systems to assess sales and expenses by vendor, imprint, and department
Facilitate invoice processing, ensuring stakeholder approval and proper categorization for financial tracking
Assist in drafting internal guides and manuals
Identify and support reporting needs, including ad hoc analysis
Requirements: Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree
Excellent organizational, verbal, analytical and written communications skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Employment eligibility to work in the US
Ability to work full business hours in New York City

Compensation and Benefits*

Currently available benefits include:

Annual compensation for this position is $48,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
