Title: Publicity Assistant
Description: Soho Press is looking for a creative, outgoing and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic publicity
team.

Salary: $45,000

-Description of Publicity Assistant Position-

Hybrid Office
o In office and work from home expectations.

Entry level publicity position. Will work on projects across our four imprints: Soho Press, Soho
Crime, Soho Teen and Hell’s Hundred.
o The ideal candidate will be a curious and genre-neutral reader.
o The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented, willing to actively
participate in department meetings and provide creative input.

The chief responsibility associated with this position will be to provide logistical and
administrative support for the publicity department with eventual title/campaign-level work in
the future.

Duties include:
o Maintaining dozens of schedules and threads of communication.
o Working closely with Publicity Director and department colleagues to implement plans.
o Help to maintain and implement mailing lists and email blasts.
o Help manage our author touring program. This includes event concept creation,
implementation, scheduling, and travel logistics. Must be a courteous communicator.
o Maintain the schedule and materials for departmental meetings.
o Execute day-to-day administrative tasks like updating title records with new publicity
pull quotes, logging/tracking publicity hits, and making sure sales, marketing and
distribution are aware of events and high-alert publicity.

Growth opportunity/ running your own publicity campaigns.
o After a period of development, the Publicity Assistant duties will expand to include
drafting press releases, maintaining and utilizing publicity lists, scheduling mailings,
follow-up with interested reviewers and media outlets, and writing publicity/marketing
copy for a small number of titles.

Special Projects
o The Publicity Assistant will work closely with the Publicity Director in developing and
implementing strategies for special projects.

Entry level position with ample opportunity for growth and promotion.
Requirements: Experience: 0 – 2 years of work experience in publishing or related fields. Strong written and verbal
communication skills are a must.
