Description: Hachette Book Group is a leading trade publisher in the U.S., and a division of Hachette Livre, the third largest trade and educational publisher in the world. Headquartered in New York, HBG also has major offices in Boston, MA, Lebanon, IN, and Nashville, TN. HBG publishes under the divisions of Little, Brown and Company, Little Brown Books for Young Readers, Grand Central Publishing, Orbit, Hachette Books, Hachette Nashville, Perseus Books and Hachette Audio. HBG also provides a wide range of custom distribution, fulfillment, digital and sales services to third party publishers.

Our summer internship program, which runs from June 4th – August 10th and allows interns to work 28 hours per week, offers students an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. The Data Engineering Intern will join the HBG Data Group Technology, which consists of ETL, DW and EDI teams, to provide data efficiently with excellent quality for business intelligence, analytics and reporting. Additionally, the group will make data translation and delivery between internal and external systems efficient and bulletproof. The summer intern will help with data quality monitoring initiatives to ensure the accuracy of data by using data engineering skillset such as Python and SQL.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop data quality monitoring (DQMon) processes that will analyze, identify, report and alert any potential data inaccuracy issues in a timely matter.
2. Perform data analysis and develop data flow diagrams and technical specifications.
3. Interact with business users to gather data requirements and participate the full SDLC.
4. Interact with the technical senior team members for identification and design of the DQMon project.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor / Master Degree candidates in technology related field, in Junior or Senior year.
2. Proficiency in SQL and Python.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills:
1. Experience in ETL and BI tools such as Informatica and MicroStrategy, Oracle database
